Students, Parents and Friends of Jazz House Kids hit the town on Wednesday, November 11 to enjoy two exciting musical events!
Over two dozen students of Jazz House Kids' fall Teen Town Jazz and JazzCats classes and their friends & family ventured to Trumpets in Montclair to hear the Duke Ellington Legacy Band,
lead by Duke Ellington's grandson, Edward Kennedy Ellington III. The students were treated to a pre-concert question & answer session with the band, followed by the wonderful performance
of the music of one of America's most treasured artists. One parent remarked, "This is a great night for Jazz House Kids and an excellent night for supporting and enjoying live music!"
That same evening, 30 friends of Jazz House Kids met at the Village Vanguard to hear the brilliant and versatile Christian McBride and his Inside Straight band.
Melissa Walker, founder of Jazz House Kids, welcomed board members, donors, volunteers and friends of Jazz House Kids to this evening of good cheer and amazing music by some of today's
top performers.
Jazz House Kids continues to offer exciting ways to participate in our community and further our mission, doing the crucial work of enriching and enlivening the lives of
children with music. One of the benefits of being part of the Jazz House family is an evening like Wednesday...whether we're giving young aspiring artists the chance to talk one-on-one
with successful professional musicians, or inviting guests to an historic jazz club to listen to virtuoso musicians with like-minded friends who believe in the important work of
Jazz House Kids.
