Inside the Jazz NoteSM offered the community a rare opportunity to examine the world of jazz through the eyes of the performing artists. During four consecutive Thursday in May, at the Montclair Public Library the public was welcomed free of charge to the Montclair Public Library to hear about the musical tastes, techniques and temperaments of jazz pioneers living in our own neighborhoods. Our master musicians included the classic pianist Norman Simmons; innovative and in-demand drummer Billy Hart; supper bassist, Christian McBride and Renaissance man, poet, saxophonist and artist Oliver Lake.
